Woven Batik

Why I painted this.

Batik artisans are storytellers who never raise their voices. Each pattern is a memory, each color a fragment of history stitched into cloth. When I visited a small workshop years ago, I saw hands that moved with unwavering patience. No rush, no shortcuts—only rhythm and intention.

I painted this mural to honor that quiet persistence. The woven pattern symbolizes how identity is built thread by thread, through time and care. For me, batik is not about motifs; it’s about the people who dedicate their lives to preserving them. This mural is my way of giving their silence a wall to speak through.
